Along with improving health, whenever teamwork is involved, there’s the added benefit of being connected to others. Individual sports and recreational activities improve the health of the spirit, while exercising the body.
In the YMCA sports, we focus on skill development and strengthening those skills throughout the duration of the sports program. Youth Sports emphasize the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility while focusing on three key elements:
By stressing teamwork and the Y’s core values, our sports leagues help teach youth how to be both good sports and good citizens. At the Y, what happens off the field is just as important as what happens on the field.
Our emphasis on teaching and personal improvement fosters an ideal environment for Youth Sports participants to learn and develop their athletic skills.
Caring Adults We recruit parents, community members, and adult athletes who are committed to providing a positive experience for everyone.
AUSL SOCCER SPRING 2018
The Y and the Auburn United Soccer League, in partnership with the Rangers Academy and Auburn Parks and Recreation Department, maximizes the positive effects of playing soccer by emphasizing healthy competition and promoting teamwork, along with individual development. The Y focuses on the life lessons to be learned from soccer and coaches strive to instill a positive self-image in each player. Playing time is guaranteed for everyone. And, as always, family involvement is always welcomed and encouraged.
Games: Saturdays, April 14, 21, 28, May 5, 12, 19.
Futsal is a format of five-on-five football (soccer) that is played extensively throughout the world. The term ‘Futsal’ is translated literally, meaning ‘indoor football’ (soccer). It is played on a basketball court with a ball which is smaller and heavier than the outdoor soccer ball and has a reduced bounce. Playing Futsal allows you to touch the ball nearly twelve times more than playing soccer. The game places considerable demand on technique, movement, tactical awareness and fitness.
Futsal is a great skill developer, demanding quick reflexes, fast thinking, and pinpoint passing. Sessions will consist of both training and playing the game of Futsal.
